Lots of good shoes to wear with shorts and just about anything.

Beat them up a little.

Get some stories and stains embedded in those soles.

Strap them in for a bike ride.

Forget those socks.

Tie them,
No never mind keep them untied.

You wore them in the rain?
Damn,
It happens.

Summer loving had you a blast?
Damn,
It happens.

Play the guitar with some friends,
Watch some friends play the guitar.

Walk.  Run.  Swim.  Life.

Or just keep them really clean.

Just go outside already.

Hope this helps!

Spring Essentials: The Lightweight Vest

1-IMG_9366

There are days (like today) when it is just to hot for anything other than a t-shirt and some shorts.  But real Spring days offer you some great minimal layering, whether it be a trucker jacket, windbreaker or a light vest.  While checking out American Living in JCPenny the other day, I found this reversible, easy vest to wear.  Definitely the best #jcpfind amongst the other great ones.   The brand has a very Ralph Lauren feel to it without the price tag.  Make sure you check out more by them in the provided link.  I also purchased two button ups and they fit great, though I suggest trying them on first.

Giving you two different perspectives of wear, the vest can be reversed and worn with dark jeans to snap a couple of pictures or out on the boat with some stripes and Tretorns. I’ll most likely wear both, minus the whole boat thing.

Unless you have a boat.

Then let’s talk.

Don’t forget to add your details to any outfit.  Like these beads by Kangalex, watch by Timex or bandana from Army/Navy.

Keep those Spring layers light, and your work load even lighter.  Enjoy this weather.

Hope this helps!

Loafing.

Dillon and I took a last minute detour in to a small shop and I just so happened to find this orange hoodie(?) by Marshall Artist.  What a great brand to find as they are just gaining popularity outside of the UK.

They do not sacrifice detail for anything.  And I love it.  I’m such a huge fan of small details.  Like, the biggest fan.

So many pockets.
So many tags.
So many strings.

I sit in class and continue to find new stuff.  It works out super well for my attention span.

You know, sometimes you really like an outfit.  No advice, it just works out.  Very minimal, simple and colorful.

It’s Thursday, can we just say the week is over?
Enjoy what you wear today, no matter how good or bad your week was.

Anonymous sent: What are some spring/summer essentials?

Spring/Summer/All the time essentials.  No matter what you buy, you always end up wearing the essentials.

Having a bad day?  Essentials.
Don’t know what to wear?  Essentials.
Impressing someone who doesn’t know you yet?  Essentials.

I guess they differ depending on the person.

Let me tell you why:

Canvas Shoes: Are great for Spring/Summer.  They’re light, easy to throw on before class and a few scuffs makes them look even better.  Whether it’s a pair of Vans or these Tretorns, they make for some good times with friends and style.

Distressed Denim: I know you’re still doing squats in your selvage, but a pair of distressed jeans makes for an easy morning to sneak out of an apartment/easier day to avoid people on campus/at work as to why they’re so wrinkled.  They will look fine after sitting on your floor a couple days.  And a dark pair rules versatility.

Pants (in a cool color): You already have a pair of khakis so why not go for a different color/pattern.  Wear them out on a nice cool evening with some friends or to help paint a kitchen, they will still rock.

Plain T-Shirt (not me): I mean, who doesn’t have a plain t-shirt by now?  Can you buy something else that says “Summer” as much as a beat up t-shirt?  Let me know.

Crewneck Sweater: With or without a button up.  With or without jeans.  With or without stains.  The crewneck will always be essential.

Aviators: Because Milan is never not wearing a pair.

And a plain t.  Enough said.

Oxford: I want a shirt that I can wear at all times of the day/any occasion.  And this is it.  Miss a few buttons.  You can never go wrong with a collared, neutral colored shirt.

Handkerchief: It gets hot in Pittsburgh.  And people sweat when it’s hot.  I know The Hill-Side patterns looks cool, but actually use it.  Plus, the small details always compliments an outfit.

I’m sure you might already have some of this.  And some, maybe not.  Space out what you want to buy.  Shop with the upcoming season in mind.  Don’t order a jacket because it’s on sale right now, get a sweater.  Mix and match all of this to create new outfits.  And have fun.

Hope this helps.

My tripod will be back tomorrow and I am sending my lens in to fix the FF problem.  These uneven lines and slightly out of focus will stop.  Haircut tomorrow.  Win win win (and no I’m not mad, just looking real stubborn like in my pictures). :D

Don’t be a slave to the season.  Just because it’s January doesn’t mean you should wrap every article of clothing around your body and walk out the door.  Get a feel for the weather.  Step out your front door before getting ready.  It’s beautiful out.  I figured it would be one of the last times I wear tennis shoes before Spring, so why not.  I couldn’t be more comfortable.

Few extra pockets on the pants.  Few extra details coming at ya.

Thanks for reading.

Plain T-Shirt: Button Up

How do you button your cardigan?  Is it something you even think about?  Most likely not, but I don’t think I do either.  I do think that a cardigan is good to have around whether you’re running out the door or throwing on a few layers though.

IMG_7285

Go top notch if you are feeling different.  It’s not something I see very often.

IMG_7275

Middle two is my favorite.  Keeps the cardigan fitted to your body while looking relaxed.

IMG_7279

Or maybe open is my favorite.  Don’t feel like those buttons have to stay buttoned/unbuttoned the whole day.

I would say my ankles are starting to get cold, but the weather here is so confused right now (look out for socks soon).  Enjoy your Monday!

Plain T-Shirt: Weekly Item

I did it.

When given two gift cards to spend at a retail mall, extensive research goes in to each buy (that’s a lie).  I have never found a pair of tennis shoes I enjoy with jeans/pants.  Tretorn’s are a classic and do that pretty well.

IMG_6212

With their long-standing swedish history and tennis background, how couldn’t I eventually be drawn to them?  Even though they are not ideal for fall/winter, I still wanted to cop a pair while I had money left on the cards (just burning holes in my pockets).  They’re lightweight and for the price are a good find if you don’t live in PA’s unpredictable weather.

IMG_6214

They provide a nice preppy edge with your vintage sweater and khaki’s.  However, trying to keep these shoes clean is impossible.  I think trying them on in my apartment got the canvas dirty.

Shoes for this upcoming Spring?  I’d look in to it if I were you.
