Part I
I’ve always been a huge fan of Dockers. So when they wanted me to take a couple pictures in their Alpha Khaki series and show them to you guys, I politely answered “YES”.
Dillon also politely answered and ended up with two of the same colors as I did. So we decided to kick the Summer off with some camo and questions:
What’s different about Dockers Alpha Khaki?
Dillon: Comfort, cut, cost. I’m normally stuttin’ in stiff denim or canvas and find myself regularly avoiding chinos/khakis - because of lack of colors, difficulty finding a decent fit and simple fear of change. The Alpha Khaki kind of blew me away, after ripping open the package they were soft - like, actually soft. Still study & with a bit of stretch. The Alpha slid on and was comfortable from minute one (even during my new-pants jumping jacks) narrow in the correct spots. and the price is right. At $59 the alpha khaki doesnt make you give up snowcones all Summer.
Jace: The big difference that I noticed is how comfortable they are. There’s no breaking in process, you just wear them.
I also really like the tapered bottoms. It makes them easy to wear with shoes and boots. None of that bootcut shit. Slim and fitting all they way down.
Oh, and the orange buttons. Real hunting season-esque.
How did you choose to style the Camo Alpha Khaki?
Dillon: This pair really stretched me - camo is tough and wasnt something I’d normally wear so I decided to break a few of my own rules and play around with it. Although camo is meant to blend in, it definitely attracts the eye. So I let it. It’s the focus and you’re the “guy in camo pants” no matter what. I didn’t want anything else on me fighting for attention. The color really is true camo & the pattern is nicely balanced so you can easily play to any of the tones. And it’s great for - you know, hiding in the woods & stuff.
Jace: People can over think a pattern when it’s really all you need. I paired it with a plain t and a pair of espadrilles.
Some wrist noise.
Sunglasses.
And I’m good.
How would you wear these during the Summer?
Dillon: Camo apparel has really been making a splash in the past few seasons and as a relatively lightweight pant these might be nice to toss on this summer when the sunsets. Stand out with a ‘blend in’ pattern amongst a sea of boat shoes and nantucket reds. Also: flip flops on everything.
Jace: I would roll these up past my calves (if they weren’t so big) and just enjoy that Summer weather. The Alpha is light enough to wear in some heat and not so tight that it’s tough to sit 3rd grade indian style in the grass. Anything lightweight is where I’m at this Summer.
Loose t’s and khakis all the way.

You know, this is a perfect time to reflect.
Before you continue: I am soft, I admit it. But appreciate everything.
When Alex and Dillon included me in an email that requested we all meet up in NYC for a long weekend, I thought there was no way. I was not going to make it up there to see these guys. NYC is far away. I have homework, work, etc, etc, etc, blah, etc.
And then it hit me. And it should hit you.
There’s a million ways not to do something, but there is really only one way to do that something.
You just do it.
I bought a megabus ticket (the only way to travel), asked Alex if I could borrow his couch for the weekend, sent out some emails and set out to meet these blogger personalities. Because all they know is clothes and sarcastic remarks.
When Dillon and I walked in to the bar, with a group of attractive women on our arms. And met Alex sitting all by himself.
Ok, so we did walk in to a bar to meet Alex. And to this day that long weekend has been one of the best and most insightful weekend of my life. I got to visit places that I only hope will be a norm for me in the future, meet people that just move and speak with creativity and inspiration and most of all, meet these two guys who no matter what was going on, were as down to earth as anyone could possibly be. Because after all, everyone else is just another person. Just like you.
No matter how many pictures were taken, who we were around, how many beers were consumed, how many dance moves were executed, how #mens the wear was, or how hot and spicy the taco, we were just enjoying life in one of the most beautiful cities on earth.
So, Who da fuck am I, I says?
Thanks guys, for making this happen. And for Dillon knowing more about bourbon than I. And Alex playing the guitar and singing like Fergie and Jesus combined.
Thanks, guys. Let’s do it again sometime, kid.

MKOP: Dillon Burke
Dillon Burke, man I really don’t know what to say about this kid. Such great energy, such great drink ideas, such great Rogue Territory jeans.
There are certain people you just have to meet to understand what I’m talking about. And Dillon is one of those people. Very down to earth and full of knowledge. NYC was a great experience with him and Alex. Hope to see you guys back there soon, until next time kid:

Describe yourself in a couple of sentences..
Polite first, conversationalist second, overly analytical self proclaimed sociologist third and kid who wears tight clothing fourth. I think I have a good grasp on realism, a realistic grasp on goodism. Opinions are what makes the world an interesting place to live in, so I tote mine around with me in stylist pockets and wooden soled shoes.
What is your favorite food & why?
My Mom’s prime rib, because - come on. Garlic & salted herb crusted prime rib, potato baked on himalayan rock salt bed and some killer red wine. god god damnit damnit it delicious.
Let’s talk drinks, what are you mixing up today?
A bunch of stuff man, grape fruit juice, vodka, vanilla parsley simple syrup, club soda & candies parsley leaves garnish.
Bourbon, benedictine, creme de violette, absinthe.
Aperol, mezcal, lime, soda.

What’s your favorite dance move?
“The white guy” or, well - thats actually the only one I know. But I’m actually pretty good at swing dancing, so “the swinger”.
You’re a student working on your last trimester, what’s on your mind as you finish your schooling?
My life, career goals, financial goals, personal goals. Theres still a lot to be figured out until I can really venture into the world of “real life” but step by step, I’m taking care of it. Certainly relocating to nyc, you know, to take over the world. I’m ready for some risk and uncertainty, already anticipating 5 am subway closures and lost belongings. it’s almost as if I’m on the last page, the last stanza, the last word of this chapter in my life - it’s just going to take me a few months to turn the page.
What would like to change about your style once you graduate?
Really need to minimize some of my wardrobe. I think my ‘style’ is constantly altering itself, but some things simply sit in my closet and some of my shoes are not intended for two mile city walks. I’ve finally realize what direction I want to pursue in regards to forming a true style so I can shed some of the stuff i’m not that into. In short, more practicality less nonsense.
You’re not the tallest guy, which is awesome because if there is any advice you would give in regards to that, it would be…
Get you basics on lock, what colors work for you, for us everything needs to be on point before we can even think about playing around with ridiculousness. Understand fit (better than the tall kids). The tailored look - really works for us. Our proportions are different but whose aren’t? In truth, it gets frustrating not feeling as if I fit into most “S” but it’s just upgrades our thread hunting to “expert” level. All you other kids enjoy jumping into any medium they find, “novice” status.
Know you’re measurements and hit the internet - some brands offer pretty generously sized “kids” and “teens” sections - and it’s the internet so you’re not the “dude with beard in boys section”. Find what brands work for you and hit the clearance section. I know we’re sick of seeing sale racks capsizing with larges and XLs, but now we are the larges and XLs. The best coat i own is via Johnny B. (Boden’s teen line) scored on mega-clearance mid season last winter for $30. It’s difficult, but its not insurmountable.

How has blogging effected your personal life?
Ah, quite a bit. I’ve met some really awesome people via blogging that I otherwise would have not. I’ve really connected with a few people personally and professionally that i know will last quite awhile. Bloggers know how to party, and tweet while doing it - I’m just trying to keep up.
